16th Conference on Catastrophe Insurance in Asia
Theme: “Finding Smart Insurance Solutions to Cope with Extreme Weather as the New Norm”

Extreme weather is the new normal and man’s influence on environment – anthropocene - is undeniable. Last year, the industry suffered one of the highest Nat CAT insured losses of $135 billion, the highest in almost 40 years. APAC, home to two-thirds of the world’s poor will experience the brunt of this threat if unmitigated. All eyes are again on the insurance industry and public-private partnerships to respond to these risks with sustainable, smart, solutions. This must attend conference will focus on managing risks from pricing and accessibility to loss prevention and risk mitigation. 

 
Insurance Summit on Belt and Road Initiative
Theme: “Getting Ready for a New Risk Landscape: An Insurance Dream”
12-13 June, Singapore
The opportunities arising from the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) are tremendous for all. Comprising the land-based “Silk Road Economic Belt” and the ocean-going “Maritime Silk Road”, BRI projects outside of China will generate an estimated $28bn in commercial insurance premiums in the years to 2030, including engineering, marine and property. This two-day summit will look at how the insurance landscape can capitalise on these growth opportunities, be it through new partnerships, strategic alliances or industry-wide pools and cooperation. HSBC Holdings group chairman Mark Tucker is the keynote speaker.

 
FT China Insurance Summit
Theme: “Reshaping a Resurgent Industry”

After a period of slowing down, China’s insurance industry is on the upswing again. The financial sector has seen a slew of regulatory changes since last year, including liberalisation measures, plans to raise caps on foreign ownership in China’s life insurers and other financial entities, and merging of banking and insurance regulators. This summit will discuss the best strategies to benefit from a planned easing of the financial sector, even as much-needed curbs are imposed on unruly elements in the insurance industry, and how to compete in the digital era.

 
32nd General Conference of the General Arab Insurance Federation (GAIF)
Theme: “Digital Transformation and the Insurance Industry in the Arab World”

The rapid technological changes and “the Fourth Industrial Revolution” will change the ways to respond to the human environment by economic and financial actors, including insurance. Co-organised by GAIF and the Tunisian Federation of Insurance Companies (FTUSA) in coordination with Tunis Re, the 32nd GAIF General Conference will address digital technology and its challenges for the insurance industry.

The Asian Captive Conference 2018
Theme: “Challenges in Self Insurance: Transparency and Digital Disruption”
