South Korea:Regulator to split into two bodies to better protect consumers

A financial consumer protection bureau is to be spun off from the Financial Supervisory Service and become an independent organisation in the first half of next year, says the Financial Services Commission. The new agency, to be directed by the FSC, will have the same level of regulatory powers as the FSS.
