Is Singapore's CI protection gap at a critical stage?

In the recent 2017 Protection Gap Study (PGS) released by the Life Insurance Association (LIA) of Singapore, it was found that despite a 17% uptake in life insurance products and a 48% rise in total savings, the mortality protection gap in Singapore has remained at 20% since the last study undertaken in 2012. But more critically, the PGS also revealed a whopping 80% gap in critical illness coverage for Singaporeans that amounted to S$538bn.
