Myanmar, the 'last frontier market' for the international business community is likely to open its insurance sector to foreign players in the financial year beginning 1 October 2018. The Insurance Business Regulatory Board (IBRB) plans to hire international consultants to help it screen and review foreign insurers before permitting them into the market. The market, which for political reasons has remained elusive and isolated from the world for over five decades, is seen as one with huge potential for growth.
