Australia:Nat CAT insurance claims hit US$3bn

Since last September, customers have lodged A$4.6bn ($3bn) in insurance claims for damage caused by natural disasters, on top of the normal level of claims that insurers might reasonably expect, said Mr Rob Whelan, chief executive of the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA), yesterday.
