| 14 Dec 2017

The Shin Research Excellence Awards programme, a partnership of the International Insurance Society and The Geneva Association, is calling for original research papers which when selected and refereed wtill be published in The Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance.

The programme is designed to foster original, applied research in the insurance and risk management field, addressing issues of concern to global insurance executives by examining subjects which directly influence business operations and issues on a practical level.

The selected research will be presented at the annual IIS Global Insurance Forum before a delegation of 500+ insurance professionals, policymakers and researchers representing 50 nations, taking place in Washington, DC, in June 2018. Awards of up to US$5,000 plus travel expenses will be presented to the selected qualifying research papers, and the lead author will be hosted at the Global Insurance Forum to present the research and actively participate both formally and informally at the Forum.

Technological advancement impacts the industry across a broad spectrum, spawning opportunity for innovative product development, delivering operational efficiencies through the reduction of frictional costs, aiding prevention and mitigation of loss via digitalisation, and supporting customer centric strategy through enhanced customer experience.

  • Cyber/Technology Risk: managing exposures and capitalising on opportunities to offer new insurance products
  • Climate Risk and Extreme Events: monitoring, modeling and mitigation to expand risk coverage.

Only full papers based on rigorous analysis and empirical strategies will be accepted for review and consideration. The paper must be original research; the paper cannot be currently under consideration or accepted by any other journal; cannot have been already published, in whole or in part.
