  • Products qualifying for Hong Kong's tax incentive revealed

    A list of Qualifying Deferred Annuity Policies (QDAPs) eligible for tax deduction was recently released by the Insurance Authority (IA) on its website. This follows the Hong Kong government announcing a tax incentive of up to HK$60,000 ($7,643) yearly for deferred annuity policies, during the 2018-19 budget. Under this entitlement, couples could enjoy a combined limit of HK$120,000 per year.

  • Hong Kong ends five-year wait for new insurance scheme

    From 1 April onwards, Hong Kongers will be able to participate in the region's new Voluntary Health Insurance Scheme (VHIS) and purchase individual indemnity hospital insurance products from participating insurers. These products will be certified by the government's Food and Health Bureau (FHB) and will be referred to as certified plans. In order to provide an incentive for the public to purchase certified plans, the government will allow a tax deduction for relevant premiums paid under the VHIS.
