Guy Carpenter, a subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies (MMC), has appointed former vice chairman David Priebe as chairman with immediate effect. Based in New York, Mr Priebe has held various leadership roles at Guy Carpenter since 1981 and possesses broad global experience in reinsurance.
In his new role, he will continue to report to Guy Carpenter president and CEO Peter Hearn and remain a member of the company's executive committee. As chairman, he will work with Mr Hearn to integrate Guy Carpenter and JLT Re capabilities following MMC’s acquisition of JLT last April.
He will also work closely with the company’s North America CEO John Trace to support major North America-based clients and will work closely with numerous global clients of Guy Carpenter. He will continue to oversee the firm’s recently created global capital solutions group comprising GC Securities and Global Risk Solutions which are led by Mr Shiv Kumar and Mr Ed Hochberg respectively.
In his previous role, he executed the firm’s growth strategies worldwide as vice chairman and prior to that, he led the firm’s global specialty practices and analytics operations. He was also responsible for the structured risk, global marketing and business development, market relationship management, market information as well as research and development units.
Mr Priebe holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from St. Lawrence University and is a graduate of the AICPCU/Wharton advanced executive education programme.
