According to Aon's latest global catastrophe recap report, damage from flooding events in March this year is expected to cost $8bn worldwide. More than half of this cost has resulted from extensive flooding in the US which has led to over $4.25bn losses with public and private insurers prepared to pay up to $1bn in claims. There were other major flooding events significantly crippling multiple South American countries, Central and Western Europe, Mozambique, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
