Pan-Asian insurer snaps up Hong Kong insurance unit

Following reports of FWD being in advanced talks to acquire MetLife's Hong Kong insurance unit, the Pan-Asian insurer has announced its acquisition of MetLife Limited and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company of Hong Kong which are wholly-owned subsidiaries of MetLife. All existing MetLife Hong Kong policies will continue to be honoured by FWD following the change in ownership. FWD also intends to rename and rebrand the business. However, the transaction is subject to regulatory approvals.
