Asia: Change runs apace in healthcare this year

Source: Asia Insurance Review | Feb 2017

2017 looks to be another year of big disruptions, transformations and innovations in the healthcare space as new technology continues to revamp the business models of old. Hence, health insurers need to keep pace with the changes in the industry, which also presents new opportunities to provide better customer experience, and encourage fitness & wellness, while simultaneously improving profitability.

Despite the uncertain economic climate, demand for healthcare services will continue to grow this year in Asia-Pacific (APAC) under the influence of demographic and epidemiological changes impacting the entire region. APAC governments which shoulder the largest burden of paying for healthcare services will take decisive steps to innovate their healthcare systems in order to face future challenges.

This will call for a complete transformation of the way healthcare is delivered in the region with all key stakeholders – pharmaceutical companies, device manufacturers, and health insurers - racing to reinvent their business models.

Indeed, insurers have a tremendous chance to reinvent their role in healthcare from being a payer to an active player, in meeting today’s customer expectations and improving outcomes.

Against such a dynamic backdrop, Asia Insurance Review is organising its 12th Asia Conference on Healthcare and Health Insurance from 20-21 March 2017 in Singapore, with the theme “Embracing IoT to face rising healthcare demand and cost while keeping covers affordable”.
