Bangladesh: Regulator strengthens insurance customer service

The Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA) has introduced steps to address customer dissatisfaction in the insurance sector through digitalisation. 
 
The regulator has launched the Unified Messaging Platform (UMP) through which insurance customers will receive their premium information and payment confirmation on each transaction through SMS, a top IDRA official said. Each insurer will have its own UMP portal.
 
This initiative will play an effective role in strengthening the services of insurance services, transparency in insurance management and accountability, reported Dhaka Tribune.
 
Welcoming the measure, Bangladesh Insurance Forum president and Popular Life Insurance managing director BM Yusuf Ali said that at present only a few insurers provide SMS notification to the clients. A
