The number and scale of weather-related natural catastrophe losses in 2010 were exceptionally high – worldwide, but especially in Asia Pacific: significant monsoon rains, flooding and landslides in Asia – from Pakistan to China, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia – but also in Africa and Europe, wildfires in Russia, and super typhoon Megi hitting the Philippines.
