News - Asia: Microinsurance could bring in US$40 bln for insurers

The global microinsurance market could generate premiums of up to US$40 billion, with the Asia Pacific region seen as the fastest growing and the largest segment of the market, said Swiss Re’s latest sigma study “Microinsurance - risk protection for 4 billion people”. Microinsurance has also grown considerably in African and Latin American countries despite these being relatively smaller microinsurance markets at present.
