India:Economic losses of over US$829 mln expected from recent floods

The devastating floods in northern India in June are likely to have caused direct economic losses of more than INR50 billion (US$829 million), with most of the losses coming from as many as 245 hydroelectric power stations and the large number of vehicles that were washed away, reports the Hindu Business Line.
