Meranti, the strongest typhoon to hit Taiwan in 21 years, has caused losses estimated at NT$593.4 million (US$18.72 million) for the agriculture industry, according to the Council of Agriculture yesterday. The Council said that crop losses totalled NT$530.5 million, with the remaining losses coming from damaged facilities. The storm left one fatality and 51 injured.
