An ASEAN-based insurance scheme for forest fire control, which would include haze control, should be considered as a possible preventive strategy in mitigating effects of the haze, both in the source region as well as in countries around the region that are affected by the smog, according to two researchers at the S Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) of Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
