PARIMA appoints three new board members

28 Mar 2018

The Pan-Asia Risk and Insurance Management Association (PARIMA) appointed three new board members earlier this month.

Ms Rehana Box, who is Sydney-based, is an Insurance Advisory Partner at Ashurst LLP, specialising in insurance law and advisory and retail financial services. She is a leading advisor on insurance in Australia to both the insurance industry and the public and private sectors. She joins Ms Melody Caffin of Raytheon Australia and Kimberley Pelly of Queensland Airports as board members for PARIMA Australia.

Mr Satoshi Hoshi and Mr Takehisa Banno join Mr Takashi Kubo as PARIMA Japan board members. As the Senior General Manager, Risk Management of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Mr Hoshi’s role includes implementing the corporation's ERM strategy and is responsible for introducing the first Global Insurance Program for MHI.

With about thirty years of experience in the global insurance industry, Mr Banno manages two captive companies and brokers in 14 countries. He is currently the General Manager, Insurance, Food & Consumer Services Division of Toyota Tsusho Corporation.

This year, PARIMA Japan will be engaged in organising the PARIMA Tokyo 2018 Conference to be held on 30 October.

Explaining why the association continues to be on the lookout for local ambassadors, PARIMA Executive Director Stacey Huang said in a statement: “PARIMA’s membership growth signals an increasing appetite for professional development opportunities in the risk management profession. Getting country-level representatives strengthens PARIMA’s ability to engage better with existing and potential members on a local level, allowing us to gauge their needs and concerns more specifically. And we’re not stopping here. There is still much for us to do for the risk management community in the region.”

PARIMA continues to step up its efforts in providing educational opportunities for members across the region. Since the start of the year, it has supported and organised nine events in China, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Singapore. In 2018, it will hold two regional conferences, with the first in Bangkok on 22 May followed by Tokyo in October. Both will revolve around the theme "Overcoming Uncertainty".

PARIMA currently counts about 1,500 in its membership.
