A nationwide campaign launched by the Korea Life Insurance Association in collaboration with the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency will help policyholders check and recover unclaimed insurance benefits through the "Find My Insurance" platform, reported the Chosun Daily.
At the end of 2025, around KRW10.3tn ($7.7bn) were lying in unclaimed insurance benefits uncollected, often because policyholders were unaware that their policies had matured. To address this, the 'Find My Insurance' platform, operated by the Korea Life Insurance Association and the General Insurance Association of Korea, now allows individuals to check and claim their unclaimed benefits.
Approximately KRW3.247tn in unclaimed benefits were collected by their rightful owners in 2025. The remaining unclaimed amount decreased from KRW12.4tn at the end of 2022, to KRW10.3tn at the end of 2025.
Insurance companies, with support from the Financial Services Commission and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, notify policyholders of unclaimed benefits via mail to their latest registered addresses and through mobile alerts.
This year's campaign focuses on elderly individuals who may be less familiar with internet and mobile services. The Korea Life Insurance Association is partnering with consumer groups to help people find unclaimed benefits and expand offline support, including assistance with insurance policy inquiries.
