| 17 Jul 2025

New Zealand's Financial Markets Authority, or Te Mana Tatai Hokohoko (FMA) welcomes the formation of the joint operational partnership to tackle scams, the New Zealand Anti-Scam Alliance.

“Collaboration is a vital factor in the fight against scams. We look forward to playing our part in the Alliance,” said FMA executive director, licensing and conduct supervision Clare Bolingford said.

Ms Bolingford also noted that disrupting scam activity is one of the FMA’s regulatory priorities, in order to maintain confidence in New Zealand’s financial markets sector.

“We want investors and consumers to make good decisions, know their rights and know how to protect themselves,” she said.

“The FMA works closely to share intelligence and disrupt investment scams with other local and international regulators and cyber safety agencies. We support the Alliance and consider this Alliance a significant move forward in a co-ordinated New Zealand response to scams.”
