Thailand's regulator, the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC), has partnered with institutions in the Prachinburi Province to promote disciplined driving and foster a culture of road safety.
The project aims to ensure youth understand compulsory insurance and safe road use, and also instil awareness of rights, duties and traffic discipline in a sustainable manner.
The participating institutions are in the three main districts of the province, which has a high rate of motorcycle accidents and fatalities, with the majority of accident victims between the ages of 15 and 24.
Said OIC special expert Mayurin Suthiratthaphan, “This project not only aims to enhance knowledge but also lays the foundation for local-level measures, such as supporting students to obtain motorcycle licenses and promoting safe road models, enforcing 100% helmet regulations and improving dangerous road crossings.”
Said Ms Mayurin, “Road safety is not the responsibility of one individual, but a shared mission of all sectors, particularly the youth, who are the force of change, the hope of their families and the future of the nation.”
