The annual International
Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) forum will be held in Tokyo, Japan, from 17-20
September 2006 and at last count, the level of attendance seems likely to equal
that held in Singapore 2004 when the number reached 400. As a curtain-raiser
to this prestigious marine event, Asia Insurance Review speaks with Mr
Patrick de La Morinerie, IUMI President, who gives us an overview of the
challenges faced by marine underwriters today and also tells us why this year’s
forum promises to be one of the liveliest and important.
