The Bermudian market had a very good year in 2006. So good, that some reinsurers are declaring it a phenomenon all on its own. Lower sea-surface temperatures and an earlier onset of El Nino were some of the reasons contributing to this “good fortune” as one reinsurer describes it. However, while analysing the trends may be fascinating, there is little comfort in the fact that the odds of such good fortune will not last long in today’s unpredictable weather patterns.
