Leading researchers are winners of Shin Research Excellence Awards

The Geneva Association and the International Insurance Society (IIS) have announced the winners of their collaborative insurance research programme, the Shin Research Excellence Awards, which is endowed by Kyobo Life Insurance Company.
The winners are Professor Howard Kunreuther, James G Dinan Professor, Professor of Operations and Information Management, Professor of Decision Sciences and Business Economics and Public Policy Co-Director, Risk Management and Decision Processes, Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and Professor Shawn Cole, Professor of Business Administration, Finance Unit, Harvard Business School.
Professor Kunreuther has a long-standing interest in ways that society can better manage low-probability, high-consequence events related to technological and natural hazards. He will be presenting original research on Insuring Against Extreme Events: The Need for Private-Public Partnerships, during the IIS 51st Annual Seminar in New York, 14-17 June.
Professor Cole is a leading researcher in the field of corporate and household finance in emerging markets with a focus on banking, micro-finance, insurance and the relationship between financial development and economic growth. He will present his research on Overcoming Barriers to Micro-Insurance Adoption: Evidence from the Field at the said Seminar.
