Asia: MSIG strengthens Asia foothold with key appointments
Mr Isao Nojo has been appointed Chairman of the Group’s holding company in Asia, succeeding Mr Noriaki Hamanaka. At the same time, he has been promoted to Executive Officer of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd. In addition to his capacity as Chairman, Mr Nojo will also oversee the Japanese corporate relationships of the Group in the region.
   Mr Alan J Wilson has been promoted to Executive Officer of the Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Limited, the parent company of MSIG. Along with the expanded responsibilities of helping to grow the international business of the Group, Mr Wilson will continue to serve as the Regional Chief Executive Officer for MSIG Asia, the Singapore-based Asia regional holding company for the Group.
   Mr Michael Gourlay has recently been appointed to helm the Group’s Singapore subsidiary, MSIG Insurance (Singapore) Pte Ltd. In addition to his responsibilities as Chief Executive Officer, Mr Gourlay will also oversee regional broking relationships and key bancassurance relationships.
   MSIG has appointed Mr Paul Faulkner as Director of the regional holding company in addition to the newly created role of Chief Risk Officer, signaling MSIG’s increasing commitment to Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) for its operations around the region. Mr Faulkner also heads the Technical Services division comprising of underwriting, reinsurance and claims services.
 
Asia: Aspen Re hires new senior underwriters
Mr Andrew Parker has been made Senior Underwriter, and Head of Aspen Re’s Australian branch in Sydney. He will report to Mr Thomas Lillelund, Managing Director, Asia Pacific. Prior to his new role, Mr Parker had been at Hannover Re, and was most recently Head of the Australasian Facultative branch and Head of Inter Hannover Australian branch.
   Mr Paul Wedlock has also joined the reinsurer as Senior Underwriter within its Asia Pacific region. He was previously with Swiss Re Australia where his most recent role was Head of Client Markets Property & Casualty ANZ.
 
Asia: Munich Re names new regional leaders
Munich Re has appointed Mr Warren Hong as Head of High Net Worth (HNW) business in Asia. Based in Singapore, Mr Hong has over 20 years of experience in the life insurance industry and is responsible for providing advice and delivering solutions on strategic and operational matters to clients with regard to their HNW insurance business.
   Meanwhile, Mr Michael Hauer has been appointed Head of the group’s new Asia Pacific Marine Reinsurance Underwriting Centre, where he will lead the Centre in developing marine reinsurance business in all Asia Pacific markets. 
 
Asia: PartnerRe continues to build presence with senior appointments
PartnerRe has appointed Mr Keng Hong Chan as Life Market Head, Asia and Ms Jing Shi as Senior Underwriter, P&C, China. Mr Chan will be responsible for developing and growing PartnerRe’s Life reinsurance business in Asia and will work closely with Life clients to identify and develop optimal risk solutions and business opportunities, further strengthening PartnerRe’s Life presence and market services for Asia.
   Ms Shi’s appointment strengthens PartnerRe’s P&C underwriting team in China. She will report to Mr Philippe Domart, CUO of PartnerRe Asia.
 
Asia: Marnix unveils new leadership
Mr Paul Murphy has been named the new Chief Executive Officer of Marnix Insurance Brokers Asia Pte Ltd, taking over from Mr Tatsuya Okawa.
   Mr Okawa is returning to Tokyo to take on his new position within the Marnix Group as President and Chief Executive Officer of Marnix Corporation, Tokyo.
 
China: Ascot Underwriting hires senior manager
Mr Robbie (Jiang) Bi has joined the Ascot Underwriting division of Lloyd’s China as its Senior Manager. He was previously Senior Manager, Actuary, with Brilliance Re Insurance Brokers.
 
Hong Kong: Representative insurer body announces new office bearers for 2015/2016
The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI) recently elected its new governing committee for the new term 2015/2016. Mr Mike S C Lee from Mass Mutual Asia Limited will helm the new team as Chairman, whilst Mr Ronnie W F Ng from China Overseas Insurance Limited will be Deputy Chairman.
   Under the Governing Committee of the HKFI, there are two Councils responsible for dealing with all technical matters concerning general insurance and life insurance respectively. The General Insurance Council will be chaired
Hong Kong: Representative insurer body announces new office bearers for 2015/2016 by Mr Allan Yu (Zurich Insurance Company Ltd) while the Life Insurance Council is chaired by Mr Andy Robinson (Zurich International Life Ltd).
   The other six officer bearers are: Mr David Alexander (Swiss Reinsurance Company Ltd), Mr P L Chan (China Taiping Insurance (Hong Kong) Company Ltd), Ms Agnes Choi (AXA General Insurance Hong Kong Ltd), Mr Stuart Fraser (Ageas Insurance Company (Asia) Ltd), Mr Jimmy W F Poon, (Dah Sing Insurance Company (1976) Ltd), and Mr Lennard Yong (MetLife Ltd).
 
Hong Kong: Sun Life unveils new organisational structure
Sun Life Hong Kong Limited has recently announced a “revitalised organisational structure” with immediate effect. Ms Belinda Au has been named Chief Distribution Officer, and will be responsible for all the company’s sales channels, including for agency and financial intermediaries.
   Mr Jeremy Young was appointed Chief Marketing Officer, a newly created role in which he takes charge of all branding and marketing activities for the Hong Kong business unit, as well as product development for the company.
   Meanwhile, Ms Vivian Choi has taken up the role of Chief Operating Officer and will focus on operations and business support, as well as leading key initiatives in the customer service arena.
 
Hong Kong: FWD appoints non-executive director
FWD Group has announced the appointment of Mr John Baird as a Non-Executive Director to the Board. Having most recently been Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and previous to that President of the Treasury Board, Mr Baird brings with him extensive experience in international affairs. 
 
India: Bharti AXA General Insurance names new chief
Bharti AXA General Insurance (GI) Company Ltd announced the appointment of Mr Deepak Iyer (currently Managing Director – Indian subcontinent at Wrigley India Pvt Ltd) as its new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director. Mr Iyer is expected to join the company by the end of the month and will take over from Mr Milind Chalisgaonkar, Interim CEO and MD after receipt of regulatory approvals by the company.
   Mr Iyer brings with him 22 years of diverse experience across various aspects of management, sales, marketing, P&L management, operational turnaround, research & development and franchise management across different countries.
 
India: New PO for Swiss Re’s Mumbai operations
Ms Kalpana Sampat has been named Principal Officer and Managing Director of Swiss Re Services India Private Ltd and will join the company later this month. 
   As Head of India, she will strengthen and broaden Swiss Re’s relations with clients and partners in the country. Ms Sampat will be responsible for Swiss Re’s life and health reinsurance business in the market and will report to Mr Robert Burr, Swiss Re’s Head of Life & Health, Asia.
 
Malaysia: PIAM elects 2015/2016 management committee members
The General Insurance Association of Malaysia (PIAM) has re-elected Mr Chua Seck Guan as its Chairman for the term 2015/2016. He is also CEO of MSIG Insurance (Malaysia). 
   AIG Malaysia CEO Antony Lee was appointed Deputy Chairman, along with eight other CEOs of member companies who will serve on the Management Committee for 2015/2016. They include: Mr Steve Crouch from ACE Jerneh Insurance Bhd, Mr Derek Roberts from AmGeneral Insurance Bhd, Dato’ Patrick Loh Lye Ngok from Berjaya Sompo Insurance Bhd, Mr Zaharudin Daud from Etiqa Insurance Bhd, Mr Marcus Hanreider from Munich Re, Mr Looi Kong Meng from Lonpac Insurance Bhd, Mr Su Tieng Teck from Tune Insurance Bhd and Mr David Tan See Dip from Uni.Asia General 
Insurance Bhd.
 
Singapore: New operations chief for Manulife
Manulife (Singapore) Pte Ltd has announced the appointment of Ms Tan Lay Hoon as its Chief Operations Officer. Ms Tan will be responsible for overseeing the company’s Information Services (IS), Project & Change Management and Operations division that includes business functions such as new business, underwriting, claims, customer services, policy services and office management. 
   In her role, she will also lead strategic technology and change management projects to help the company achieve its business goals.
 
Singapore: Marine insurer appoints country head
Skuld, a marine insurance provider recently announced its appointment of Mr Nicholas March as the head of its Singapore office. He will replace Mr Kjell-Åke Augustsson who is moving to lead Skuld’s Piraeus office. 
   Prior to the appointment which remains subject to approval by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), Mr March was head of marine for Aon in Singapore.
 
Singapore: Charles Taylor unveils senior appointments
Charles Taylor Adjusting (CTA) has significantly enhanced its property, casualty and special risks loss adjusting capability in Asia with the appointment of two Directors, Mr David Seng and Mr Garry Theng in Singapore. 
   Mr Seng has over 23 years’ experience in loss adjusting, and specialises in property, engineering construction, casualty and financial lines losses, while Mr Theng has over 20 years’ experience in loss adjusting, specialising in property, engineering and construction losses with a particular focus on damage involving lifts, escalators, transformers, electrical switchgear and building protection 
systems. 
 
Singapore: New senior hires for Howden
Howden International, part of Hyperion Insurance Group, has hired Mr Goh Chye Huat as CEO and Principal Officer of its Singapore retail operation for its international broking business, subject to regulatory approval and the completion of the customary notice period with his existing employer. 
   Following his appointment, Ms Jessie Tijoe, currently CEO and Principal Officer, will become Chairman, with a focus on key client relationships.
   Four other senior executives will also be joining the Group, once they have each fulfilled their duties to their existing employer. Mr Gerard Lee will join as Executive Director – Strategic Business Development; Mr Primus Lee will join as Executive Director – Head of Employee Benefits; Ms Jenny Lim will join as Executive Director – Head of Special Risks (Financial Lines), and Ms Gracy Khoo will join as Executive Director - Head of Major Corporate Accounts.
 
Global: Oliver Bäte takes over from Michael Diekmann as CEO of Allianz
Mr Oliver Bäte has taken over as the new Chairman of the Board of Management (CEO) of Allianz SE from Mr Michael Diekmann. At the same time, Mr Bäte has handed over the responsibility for the Global Property & Casualty portfolio to Mr Axel Theis, member of the Board of Management of Allianz SE, who adds this task to his existing responsibilities.
   Mr Bäte joined Allianz SE as member of the Board of Management of Allianz SE in 2008 as Chief Operating Officer. He assumed the position of Chief Financial Officer in 2009 before being appointed responsible for the insurance business in Western and Southern Europe (Benelux, France, Greece, Italy and Turkey) 
in 2013.
 
Global: Planned changes for ERGO and Munich Re Boards
Mr Torsten Oletzky, Chairman of ERGO’s Board of Management, will leave ERGO at the end of the year. His intended successor is Mr Markus Rieß, CEO of Allianz Deutschland, who is also to be appointed to Munich Re’s Board of Management.
   ERGO and Munich Re are at an advanced level of talks with Mr Rieß, who currently chairs the Board of Management of Allianz Deutschland AG. Subject to approval by the Supervisory Boards of both ERGO and Munich Re, Mr Rieß is to succeed Mr Oletzky as Chairman of ERGO’s Board of Management with effect from 1 October 2015. His appointment to Munich Re’s Board of Management is planned for the same date.
 
Global: Lochain Patrick strengthens Marine & Energy capabilities
Specialist Marine & Energy Lloyd’s broker, Lochain Patrick announced the appointment of seasoned marine and energy specialist Mr David Jackson, as a Director and producing broker.
   Mr Jackson is a well-known and highly regarded figure in the marine and energy market, with a career spanning 35 years, including his leadership role as Managing Director of Lloyd’s broker Alston Gayler.
 
Global: Peter Hearn to succeed Alex Moczarski as Guy Carp chief
Mr Peter Hearn, Chairman of Willis Re, is set to join Guy Carpenter as CEO. He will succeed Mr Alex Moczarski, who will focus on his role as chairman of Marsh & McLennan International.
   Mr Hearn, who will take over the position in May 2016, previously served as CEO of Willis Re from 2006 to 2011 prior to becoming its chairman.
