JLT (Jardine Lloyd Thompson) celebrated the grand opening of its Myanmar Representative Office on 12 September in Yangon.
The guests for the grand opening ceremony were addressed by the Deputy Minister of Finance, Dr Maung Maung Thein, who also joined JLT Asia’s Senior Executives and the local Myanmar representative in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the representative office.
JLT’s international expertise spans a wide range of insurance and reinsurance areas, including aviation, construction, employee benefits, energy, marine and risk analysis.
Restrictions on foreign insurance companies ensure that in Myanmar, its role will be to share its knowledge and expertise with Myanmar insurance companies and provide local businesses with the opportunity to connect directly through JLT across its global network.
For JLT’s international clients, the Yangon office will act as an important source of information and insight about investment opportunities in Myanmar.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr Dominic Samengo-Turner, Chief Executive Officer of JLT Asia, pointed out that the company had “a rich history in Asia dating back to 1836 and are established in all of the major economies in the region.” He continued: “We hope to bring to the Myanmar insurance industry our international expertise, professionalism and access to international reinsurance markets.”
