Event Page - MSIG helps to kick-start new and inter-disciplinary research in Singapore

Source: Asia Insurance Review | Mar 2016

MSIG Insurance (MSIG) through its Tokyo based non-profit organisation Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Welfare Foundation (MSIWF) has awarded grants to four Singaporean researchers amounting to S$35,600 (US$25,000) in total.

Three of the projects are aimed at improving the quality of life for seniors while the fourth aims to reduce pedestrian traffic congestion.

MSIG and MSIWF have been advocates for budding and inter-disciplinary research focused on the growing ageing population and the rising numbers of traffic users in Singapore since 2007. The kick-start grant attracts yearly applications from established Singaporean institutions.

The MSIWF grant is unique as it is one of very few in Singapore that caters to research which is inter-disciplinary in nature, projects that are meaningful but have had more difficulties in obtaining funding due to their nature.
