Asia: Antares boosts financial lines and marine team
Antares Asia has recruited Ms Rebecca Ng as Marine Underwriter and Ms Sharon Lansdell-Clarke as Financial Lines Underwriter. They both take up their roles with immediate effect, reporting to Ms Li Shan Yeo, CEO, Antares Asia.
 
 
Asia: Chubb announces senior appointments
Chubb Group has announced appointments of Country Presidents for its general insurance business in Hong Kong, Singapore and Korea. Mr Douglas White has been appointed Country President for Hong Kong, with oversight for Taiwan and Macau, while Mr Greg Dodds and Mr Edward Kopp have been named Country President for Singapore and Korea respectively.
 
   Meanwhile for the Asia Pacific region, Ms Christine Aldrich has been appointed Marine Cargo Underwriting Manager and Mr Callum Clark has been named Marine Hull Underwriting Manager.
 
 
Asia: Pacific Life Re adds to senior management
Ms Joanne Yeo has been appointed Head of Pricing for Pacific Life Re in Asia. She succeeds Mr Darshan Singh, who has been appointed the company’s Head of Customer Propositions, a newly-formed role.
 
 
SEA: Rothschild names Non-Executive Chairman
Mr Henry Ho has joined Rothschild as Non-Executive Chairman for Southeast Asia. Based in Singapore, he will work closely with the Global Financial Advisory and Wealth Management and Trust teams across the region to develop the firm’s businesses.
 
 
Asia: Clyde & Co expands OHSS practice
Global law firm Clyde & Co has recruited leading occupational, health, safety and security (OHSS) partners Mr Michael Tooma and Ms Alena Titterton from Norton Rose Fulbright. Mr Tooma will lead the OHSS practice across the region and assist in the development and implementation of global safety management systems.
 
   Meanwhile, Ms Titterton’s practice includes assisting clients in the preparation of safety due diligence frameworks and conducting legal gap analyses for compliance against Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws.
 
 
Australia: John Myler appointed to senior role at Allianz
Mr John Myler has been appointed as Chief General Manager, Market Management, at Allianz Australia. He reports to Managing Director Niran Peiris.
 
 
Australia: IAG appoints reinsurance lead
Mr Scott Grove has been named Group General Manager, Reinsurance at IAG. He has over 30 years’ experience under his belt and joins the company from Aon Benfield.
 
 
Australia: BHSI expands team
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Company (BHSI) has announced new additions to its Australian team with Mr Sami Jaghbir as Senior Underwriting Manager, Executive & Professional Lines, based in Brisbane, and Mr Richard Johnson as Senior Underwriting Manager, Executive & Professional Lines, based in Melbourne.
 
 
Australia: XL Catlin opens 3rd office in Brisbane
XL Catlin’s insurance segment has opened its third office in Brisbane, Australia. The office will initially be staffed by Mr Geoff Still and Mr Steve Rogers covering Property and Casualty underwriting respectively, with expansion planned into other lines over time. Mr Steve Williamson, Regional Engineering Leader for XL Catlin’s property engineering division – Global Asset Protection Services (GAPS), will also be based out of the Brisbane office.
 
 
Australia: Law firm Gilchrist Connell unveils senior appointments
Gilchrist Connell has announced five new senior appointments across three of its offices: three Principals – Ms Katherine Czoch and Ms Clare Branch, in Sydney; Mr John-Paul Wilson in Perth; and two Special Counsels – Ms Amanda Kailis in Perth and Mr Dylan Steel in Adelaide.  
 
 
Hong Kong: Manulife International names CEO
Mr Guy Mills has been named Executive Vice President and CEO of Manulife (International) Limited. He will oversee the continued growth of all the company’s businesses and distribution in Hong Kong and Macau, except for the mutual funds business. 
 
   Meanwhile, Ms Zhang Kai has been appointed General Manager of Manulife-Sinochem Life Insurance Company Limited, based in Shanghai. 
 
 
India: GIC Re names first female chief
Mrs Alice Vaidyan has been appointed as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC Re). She is the first lady to be appointed to the post and will hold office till 31 July 2019. Prior to the appointment, she was the General Manager and CFO of the company.
 
 
Indonesia: Milliman announces lead for country ops
Global consulting and actuarial firm Milliman has promoted Mr Halim Gunawan to country manager for Indonesia. His new responsibilities include local management of all of the firm’s core consulting lines: employee benefits, life insurance, non-life insurance, and healthcare.
 
 
Singapore: UK P&I Club appoints Regional Adviser
The Board of UK P&I Club has appointed Mr Lee Wai Pong to join the Club in Singapore as a Regional Advisor. Mr Lee was most recently Executive Director of the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA).
 
 
Singapore: Reed Smith adds to team
Global law firm Reed Smith has announced the appointment of Mr Richard Lovell, as a partner in the firm’s Singapore office. He joins the firm from Ince & Co, where he was head of shipping and managing partner of its Singapore office.
 
 
Singapore: XL Catlin boosts team
XL Catlin’s insurance segment has appointed Ms Lim Mei Yean as Underwriter to its Political Risk and Trade Credit team based in Singapore. She joined the company from Asia Capital Reinsurance where she specialised in trade credit treaty reinsurance and specialised facultative reinsurance placements.
 
 
Vietnam: QBE Asia Pacific unveils country lead
Mr Anthony Cloney has been promoted to General Director – Vietnam, at QBE Asia Pacific and is now responsible for developing and steering the insurer’s strategic initiatives. He is also responsible for further enhancing the delivery of both products and services to customers and intermediaries.
 
 
Global: Coface unveils new CEO
Mr Xavier Durand has been appointed CEO of Coface, succeeding Mr Jean-Marc Pillu. He joins the insurer from GE Capital where he was most recently Director of Strategy and Growth. 
 
   Meanwhile, Mr Graham Crozier has also joined Coface as Chief Executive of the insurer’s Australia branch. He will oversee the business development and the operations of the company’s trade credit insurance and services activities in Oceania.
 
 
Global: Generali Chairman steps in as interim CEO
Assicurazioni Generali SpA Chairman Gabriele Galateri di Genola has been appointed acting CEO after Mr Mario Greco announced his departure from the Italian insurer to join Zurich Insurance Group AG. The insurer is currently in the process of selecting candidates for the role of Group CEO, the company said in a statement.
 
 
Global: Endurance announces CEO for new global risk solutions business
Mr Michael Chang has joined Endurance Insurance as CEO of Global Risk Solutions, a newly formed business within the group. He will be responsible for building a platform targeting global industry vertical solutions for large account risk management clients.
 
 
Global: Trindent appoints financial services lead
Mr Stephan Rajotte has been named Global Financial Services Practice Leader at Trindent Consulting. He will provide strategic direction and work with senior industry leaders to identify solutions to complex business issues and increase operational efficiencies. 
 
 
Global: Ex-Generali CEO to helm Zurich
Mr Mario Greco has been appointed CEO of Zurich Insurance Group, effective 1 May. He joins the company from Generali, and will succeed Mr Tom de Swaan, who has held the role on an ad interim basis since former Zurich CEO Martin Senn stepped down in December 2015.
