Asia: Allianz unveils new appointments
Mr Manu Anand has been named CFO of Allianz Re, Asia-Pacific in Singapore while Mr Jan Rosemeyer is appointed CFO of Allianz Ayudhya Assurance in Thailand. Meanwhile, Mr Paul Groves is now Head of Market Management, Asia Pacific at Allianz.
 
   Mr Anand joins the reinsurer from Deloitte where he was a director, while Mr Rosemeyer was most recently the CFO of Allianz Re, Asia-Pacific. 
 
   Based in Singapore, Mr Groves will drive the development of the insurer’s marketing function throughout Asia Pacific. He was previously based in Hong Kong as AIA’s Group Chief Marketing Officer. 
 
 
Asia: New senior appointments for Navigator and Aviva
Mr Warwick Young has been named CEO of Navigator Investment Services Limited, a wholly-owned investment portfolio administration service of Aviva while Mr Charles Hung has taken on the role of Chief Risk Officer, Aviva Asia.
 
   In the newly created role, Mr Young will continue to ensure that Navigator’s portfolio and Aviva Online offering play an instrumental part in the insurer’s True Customer Composite and Digital First strategy. 
 
   Meanwhile, Mr Hung, who succeeded Mr Young, will oversee risk management and compliance across the company.
 
 
Asia: Chubb hires fine arts specialist
Ms Regina Baxter has joined Chubb as Regional Fine Arts Specialist for Asia Pacific. Based in Singapore, she will be responsible for the growth and development of the insurer’s Fine Arts portfolio in the region. Before joining the insurance industry, Ms Baxter was a freelance art consultant and lectured at the Sotheby’s Institute of Arts in Singapore.
 
 
Asia: FP Marine names new chief
Marine insurance broker FP Marine Risks has announced that Mr Philip Bilney has stepped down as Group Chief Executive and will be succeeded by Mr Richard Walker who has been appointed CEO. Prior to the appointment, Mr Walker was Regional Managing Director, Asia, and had joined the company in 2014.
 
 
Asia: Manulife strengthens marketing and digital leadership
Manulife has appointed Mr Francesco Lagutaine as Chief Marketing and Experience Design Officer for Asia, while Mr Jason Dehni will take on the role of Chief Distribution Officer for the region. Mr Matt Whittingham has joined Manulife as Chief Digital Officer for its Asia Division.
 
   Both Mr Lagutaine and Mr Dehni are based in Hong Kong and report to Mr Roy Gori, President and CEO, Manulife Asia. Mr Whittingham is based in Singapore and reports to Mr Dehni.
 
   Mr Lagutaine who joins the insurer from Citibank in New York where he is Global Head of Client and Design, will take over the marketing and customer-centricity function from Mr Dehni who currently serves as both Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Distribution Officer for Asia.
 
 
Asia: Ironshore boosts regional team 
Ironshore International has announced that Mr James Hill has been named Underwriting Manager of Terrorism, Political Violence and War for the Asia Pacific region. He joins the company from Willis Limited, and will be based Singapore, reporting to Ms Hui Yun Boo, Managing Director Asia Pacific. 
 
 
Asia: Sompo Canopius expands engineering team
Sompo Canopius AG has added to its engineering offering in Asia with Mr Wah Chuang Ng as Head of Engineering, Singapore and Mr Alex Li as senior engineering underwriter, based at the Lloyd’s China platform. 
 
   Mr Ng who joins from Chaucer, will be covering all of Asia and has more than 17 years of insurance experience, whilst Mr Li, who reports to Mr Ng, has nearly 15 years of experience in the Asian insurance market. 
 
 
Asia: Swiss Re appoints Hub Casualty lead
Swiss Re has appointed Mr Victor Kuk as Head Hub Casualty Asia, based in Hong Kong. He has more than 15 years of experience in general insurance management especially in strategic planning, business restructuring resulting in profit optimisation, and operation process streamlining. Prior to joining Swiss Re, he was Chief Risk Officer of Emerging Markets at QBE Insurance Group Limited.
 
 
Asia: UIB announces new hire
UIB Asia Reinsurance Brokers Pte Ltd has appointed Mr Ben Crookenden as a Divisional Director heading up Non-Marine & Energy within the Facultative & Specialty Team. His main responsibilities are to develop and maintain the existing Non-Marine & Energy business across the Asian region, including developing key relationships with the UIB partners.
 
   Meanwhile, Ms Doreen Tan has joined the company as Senior Manager & Head of Analytical/Actuarial Services – Treaty Division. She will help develop the regional actuarial and modelling capabilities and support UIB’s growth plans in new and existing markets.
 
 
Asia: Zurich names new underwriting chief
Mr Hervé Marguin has been named Zurich Insurance’s Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO), General Insurance, Asia Pacific. He succeeds former lead Mr Adrian Sweeney, who has been appointed CUO for the insurer’s Global Corporate business, based in London.
 
   Mr Marguin reports to Mr Stuart A Spencer, CEO General Insurance, Asia Pacific and Mr Alan Fairhead, CUO, General Insurance, Zurich Insurance Group.
 
 
Hong Kong: JLT makes new senior appointments
Mr Andrew Barrowman has joined JLT Asia as the CEO of JLT Hong Kong while Mr Michael Wellsted has also been promoted to Chief Digital Officer for Asia. 
 
   Mr Barrowman was previously the Managing Director of JLT Specialty and prior to that had spent 22 years at Zurich Australia and has held numerous senior positions.
 
   Meanwhile, Mr Wellsted will lead the digital transformation of JLT Asia and be responsible for developing, executing and integrating digital strategies for the company’s businesses in the region. He will also remain Deputy CEO of JLT Hong Kong.
 
 
Hong Kong: Peak Re expands underwriting and analytics team
Peak Re has appointed Mr Iain Reynolds as Head of Analytics while Mr Lawrence Cheng has been appointed Head of Underwriting, responsible for the reinsurer’s P&C product underwriting function.
 
   Prior to joining the company, Mr Reynolds had served as Guy Carpenter’s Head of Catastrophe Modelling for South East Asia, Korea and India. Meanwhile, Mr Cheng who has extensive experience, from both broking and reinsurance sectors in the industry, moved to his new role from Head of Analytics at Peak Re.
 
 
Hong Kong: McLarens announces senior recruitment
Global loss adjusting firm McLarens has announced two senior appointments in Hong Kong: Mr Chris Panes has joined as Chief Operating Officer, Europe, Middle East & Asia Pacific and Mr Russell Henderson as Regional Managing Director, Asia Pacific.
 
 
India: National Insurance Co names new Chairman & Managing Director
Mr K Sanath Kumar, former acting Chairman-cum-Managing-Director of GIC Re, has been appointed as Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the Kolkata-headquartered National Insurance Company. He will hold this post till 30 April 2018.
 
 
India: Lloyd’s appoints country manager
Lloyd’s has appointed Mr Shankar Garigiparthy as Country Manager for India. He will be responsible for market development, representing the specialist (re)insurance market in discussions with regulators and building business relationships. Meanwhile, Mr Arun Agarwal, Lloyd’s General Representative in India, will continue in his role providing expert guidance and counsel to Lloyd’s.
 
 
Malaysia: Milliman appoints country lead
Milliman has announced that Ms Farzana Ismail will lead its new life insurance consulting team in Malaysia. The Kuala Lumpur office will offer life insurance, employee benefits, non-life, and health insurance consulting services. Ms Ismail has spent her entire career working as a consultant covering life insurance and family takaful, initially in the firm’s London office and more recently in Kuala Lumpur. 
 
 
Singapore: Denis Kessler joins MAS’ advisory panel
SCOR Chairman and CEO Denis Kessler has been appointed as a member of the International Advisory Panel (IAP) of the Monetary Association of Singapore (MAS) for a term of two years. The IAP comprises some of the world’s leading financial experts including AIG CEO Peter Hancock, BNY Mellon CEO Gerald Hassell, Lloyd’s chairman John Nelson, and Swiss Re board chairman Walter 
Kielholz.
 
 
Singapore: RGL Forensics names Director 
Mr Alex Koukoullis has been appointed Director of RGL Forensic’s Singapore office, responsible for overseeing the firm’s operations and further developing its presence in its region. Prior to joining the company, he was the Asia practice leader of Marsh Risk Consulting’s Forensic Accounting and Claims Services (FACS) Practice.
 
 
Global: BHSI launches specialty ops in Europe
Ex-Lloyd’s of London veteran Tom Bolt will join Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) as President, UK and Southern Europe, effective 1 June. Meanwhile, Mr Gregor Köhler has been appointed President, Northern Europe. 
 
   Mr Bolt will assume the role of CEO, and he and Mr Köhler will also become members of the board of directors of Berkshire Hathaway International Insurance Limited.
 
 
Global: Generali appoints Group CEO
Assicurazioni Generali has appointed Mr Philippe Donnet as Group CEO, conferring on him all executive powers, while Mr Alberto Minali has been named General Manager of the company.
 
   Mr Donnet, who has been Generali Italia Country Manager since July 2013, has worked in the insurance industry for many years at the highest international level, holding senior management positions at a number of global insurance groups. 
 
   Meanwhile, Mr Minali, who has been Group CFO and Manager in charge of preparing the company’s financial reports since September 2012, began his professional career with the Generali Group and subsequently gained experience in senior management roles in other important Italian and international companies.
 
   Both Mr Donnet and Mr Minali will continue to hold their current positions within the Group.
 
 
Global: Munich Re names new CEO
Munich Re has announced that it had accepted the request of CEO Dr Nikolaus von Bomhard to leave the Board of Management and also to step down as CEO on 26 April 2017. Mr Joachim Wenning has been appointed as the new CEO effective 27 April 2017.
 
   Mr Wenning has been responsible for international life reinsurance business on the reinsurer’s Board of Management since the beginning of 2009. He was also Labour Relations Director and had been responsible for human resources since October 2013. His appointment to the Board of Management has also been extended to 31 December 2021.
 
 
Global: Swiss Re unveils new chief exec
Swiss Re has named Mr Christian Mumenthaler as Group CEO of Swiss from 1 July, taking over from Mr Michel Liès who will be retiring. Mr Mumenthaler has worked with the reinsurer for close to two decades and has helmed various portfolios including marketing, life & health and risk. He is currently CEO Reinsurance and has led the company’s reinsurance business unit since October 2011.
 
 
Global: ACORD elects new CEO
Mr William N Pieroni has been elected as ACORD’s new President and CEO. He succeeds Mr Gregory A Maciag, who announced his plan last year to retire after nearly 40 years with the organisation. Mr Maciag was also named President Emeritus of ACORD and will be an advisor to the organisation.
 
   Mr Pieroni served as the Global Chief Operating Officer of Marsh and was responsible for the firm’s global operations. Additionally, he was the Chief Technology and Transformation Officer across the Risk and Insurance Segment.
