Corporate Risk Management News - RIMS 2016 highlights its expanding footprint in Asia

The Risk Management Society made an inaugural trip to China in March, where officials from the organisation visited key players among government, industry and academia in the insurance sector in Beijing and Shanghai. This was highlighted at the recent 2016 RIMS Annual Conference and Exhibition held in San Diego in April.
The successful working visit has given RIMS further insight into China’s thriving risk management society and its programmes and challenges, which will enable RIMS to determine how to support the work of risk managers there, said 2016 President Julie Pemberton.
Welcoming about 10,000 attendees from some 70 countries at the General Session, RIMS CEO Mary Roth and Ms Pemberton urged risk managers to broaden their resources and advance their expertise in line with the conference theme of “Go Beyond”.
They also announced a slew of new initiatives to support risk managers with RIMS’ recently revamped mission statement to “educate, engage and advocate for the global risk community”. Some of these initiatives include new online courses, a new certification (RIMS-CRMP), and a new virtual engagement platform, Opis.
Founded in 1950, RIMS is a global not-for-profit organisation which has a membership of more than 11,000 risk management professionals in more than 60 countries, representing more than 3,500 entities.
