Asia: First Capital Insurance announces new head for Accident and Health
First Capital Insurance has appointed Mr Rajesh Sinha as Regional Director, A&H for First Capital Insurance and the various subsidiaries of Fairfax Asia. 
 
   In his new role, Mr Sinha will be responsible for the development and growth of the A&H portfolio for Fairfax Asia group of companies. He will be based in Singapore and will report to Mr Ramaswamy Athappan - Chairman & CEO of Fairfax Asia and CEO of First Capital Insurance, Singapore.
 
 
Asia: New appointments at Allianz Re Asia Pacific
Mr Benedikt Schermutzki has been appointed Head of Underwriting APAC, leading the Treaty Underwriting Team at Allianz Re Singapore, from 1st July. Mr Schermutzki started his career at Allianz Re in 2013 and is highly experienced in underwriting treaty business. Prior to Allianz, he held several underwriting and management positions in the reinsurance industry looking after various lines of business in Munich as well as in South Africa.
 
   Additionally, effective 4 July, Mr Chiu Wai Yeung Ocean will join the P&C Client Management Team of Allianz SE Reinsurance Asia Pacific. In his role, he will be coordinating and developing business relationships with several Asia markets; especially China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Thailand.
 
 
Asia: AXA has new Regional COO
Mr Marc Blottiere has commenced his role as Regional COO of AXA Asia as of 1 June, reporting directly to Mr Jean-Louis Laurent Josi, Regional CEO of AXA Asia. 
 
   In his new role Mr Blottiere will lead and transform the overall IT and Operations capabilities within the region across all lines of business. As a member of the Regional Executive Committee, he will play a central role to provide vision and direction for the implementation of IT and Operations initiatives in the region, ensuring they are aligned with reinventing the customer experience.
 
 
Asia: XL Catlin appoints new Senior Underwriter for International Casualty business
XL Catlin has announced the appointment of Mr Lloyd Haynes as Senior Underwriter, International Casualty, covering the Asia Pacific market. He will be based in Singapore. 
 
   Mr Haynes has worked in the insurance industry for more than 10 years. He started his career in London in 2005 with QBE Europe/DAC 386 Syndicate working on various International Liability accounts before moving to Singapore in 2012. 
 
 
Asia: Aviva announces Regional Executive for Indonesia and Vietnam
Aviva Asia has appointed Mr Randy Lianggara as Regional Executive for Indonesia and Vietnam, with effect from 16 June 2016. Aviva will also nominate Mr Lianggara to the role of President Commissioner of PT Astra Aviva Life. 
 
   Mr Lianggara will work closely with Aviva Asia’s joint venture partners Astra International Tbk (Astra) in Indonesia and VietinBank in Vietnam, to spearhead Aviva’s growth agenda in these two promising markets. He reports to Mr Chris Wei, Executive Chairman of Aviva Asia and Global Chairman of Aviva Digital.
 
 
Asia: DLA Piper adds Senior Consultant to litigation and regulatory practice
Mr Michael Turnbull has joined DLA Piper’s Litigation and Regulatory practice in Hong Kong, working within the Insurance Sector as a Senior Consultant. Mr Turnbull will focus his practice on both contentious and non-contentious regulatory insurance-related matters.
 
 
Australia: ANZIIF welcomes new Board members
The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) has welcomed a new Board member and Deputy Chair at its Annual General Meeting. 
 
   Mr Tim Considine, Managing Director of Austbrokers Countrywide was officially welcomed to the Board after commencing as a director in January 2016. Mr Allan Reynolds, Executive General Manager – Direct & New Zealand of Steadfast, was announced as Deputy Chair of the ANZIIF Board and Mr Karl Armstrong – Chief Risk Officer of IAG New Zealand will stay on another term as President. 
 
   Departing Directors, Board Deputy President Mr Heinrich Eder of Munich Re, Mr Colin Fagen of QBE and Mr Frank Crapis, previously of Munich Re, were also acknowledged during the AGM.
 
 
Indonesia: Chubb announces new President Director for general insurance 
Chubb has appointed Mr Tai-Kuan Ly as the new President Director to lead its general insurance operation in Indonesia. Mr Ly will report to Mr Juan Luis Ortega, Regional President for Chubb in Asia Pacific.
 
   Mr Edward Ler, the incumbent President Director, will return to Singapore after a two-year stint in Indonesia and will continue in his role as Regional Head of Personal Lines, Asia Pacific including oversight of the company’s Motor, Residential, High Net Worth and Specialty Personal Lines products.
 
 
Manulife Indonesia appoints new CEO
Manulife Indonesia has appointed Mr Indren S Naidoo as the new CEO. Based in Jakarta, Mr Naidoo will be responsible for leading the business, and helping more customers in Indonesia achieve their goals through the company’s innovative solutions and diversified distribution channels.
 
   Prior to his new position, Mr Naidoo was the company’s Regional CEO for Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia, a role he held since 2013.
 
 
New CEO for AXA Japan
AXA Japan has announced Mr Nick Lane as CEO, one in a series of appointments to form a new management team that will support Mr Thomas Buberl, incoming AXA Group CEO, in the definition and implementation of the Group’s strategy and management of its global operations.
 
 
Singapore: Alain Flandrin elected as Chairman of SRA
The Singapore Reinsurers’ Association (SRA) has announced the line-up of its Executive Committee (EXCO) for the 2016/2017 term of office with Mr Alain Flandrin, CEO (Asia Pacific) of Partner Re Asia, being elected as its Chairman. Mr Flandrin replaces Mr Thomas Lillelund who has stepped down following his recent appointment as CEO of Aspen Re.
 
 
Singapore: FPI appoints new Managing Director
Friends Provident International (FPI), part of the Aviva group, has appointed Mr Andrew Waddell as Managing Director for Singapore with immediate effect (subject to local regulatory approval).
 
   Mr Waddell was previously Principal and Executive Director at Lahinch Partners Pty Ltd. Prior to that, he co-led the establishment of AMP Advice, following the merger between AMP and AXA Australia. Based in Singapore, Mr Waddell will oversee the FPI business in the local market. 
 
 
Taiwan: Chubb appoints Country President
Chubb Life has appointed Ms Kristine Ung as Country President of Chubb Life in Taiwan. She will lead the company, in all aspects of the business, including Offshore Insurance Unit through channel and product initiatives, building organisational capabilities and maintaining strong relationships with Government entities.
 
   Ms Ung joined Chubb Life in July 2015 and has been instrumental in building their regional Wealth Management team (“Center Of Excellence”) and strategies for Asia Pacific. She will continue to lead the insurance wealth management business while advancing all aspects of their Taiwanese 
business. 
 
 
Global: Aspen Re reveals new CEO
Aspen Re has announced that Mr Thomas Lillelund will succeed Mr Stephen Postlewhite as CEO while Mr Postlewhite has taken over the post of CEO of Aspen Insurance, following outgoing CEO Mario Vitale’s retirement.
 
   Mr Lillelund, who has served as Chairman of the Singapore Reinsurers’ Association since May 2014, had also been Aspen Re’s Managing Director for Asia Pacific since 2012. He began his career in underwriting and management in 1995 and has previously worked at General Re, Swiss Re and AIG.
 
 
Global: Aon Benfield appoints new CEO in Chile 
Aon Benfield has appointed Mr Martin Soto Quintus as CEO of Aon Benfield Chile, effective immediately. Reporting to Mr Alejandro Galizia, CEO of Aon Benfield Latin America, Mr Soto Quintus will be responsible for the development and implementation of the firm’s growth strategy in Chile. 
 
 
Global: Miller announces new board appointments and appoints new senior broker
Miller Insurance Services LLP (Miller) has announced Mr Greg Collins as the Deputy CEO and that Mr Ben Speers will be appointed to the Board as COO, from 1 July 2016. Mr Ken MacDonald will also be appointed to the Board with continued responsibility for Miller’s Property & Casualty business unit and in addition, will serve as a member of the Audit Committee, while Mr Jonathan Fussell is appointed Partnership Secretary.
 
   Miller has also hired Mr Benjamin Gibbons for a business production and senior broking role to further develop its credit and political risks offering.
 
   Mr Gibbons specialises in structuring credit risk insurance policies for multi-national banks in line with capital adequacy standards set forth under the Basel III Accords within the EU. He will be working with Mr James Cunningham and Miller’s other credit and political risk specialists at Miller’s London headquarters.
 
 
Global: Meijers AssurantiĆ«n elects new WBN Board Chairman 
Meijers AssurantiĆ«n has elected Mr Daniel de Swaan, CFO and Board Member, to a 2-year term as Chairman of the Board of the Worldwide Broker Network™.
 
   Mr De Swaan joined Meijers as CFO in 2005 and is responsible for all staff activities. He also heads up the private clients team, Meijers Assuradeuren, the in-house underwriting agent, and he serves as liaison between Meijers and Meijers Credit, the trade credit subsidiary.
 
   He succeeds Markham McKnight, President of Bancorp South Insurance and a former chairman of the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers.
 
 
Global: Willis Towers Watson reveals new Senior Consultant
Willis Towers Watson has appointed Ms Heloise Rossouw as Senior Consultant to lead the growth of its Life Insurance Management Consultancy. This follows the recent appointment of Mr Marcus Bowser to the position of UK Life Sales and Practice Leader as the team continues to expand its UK Life business.
 
   Ms Rossouw will be responsible for developing new strategies to ensure life insurers have access to bespoke products and services that reflect their individual needs.
