Munich Re strengthens Life operations in APAC
Mr Daniel Cossette has assumed a new role as Munich Re’s CEO for Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (Life), reporting directly to Mr Joachim Wenning, CEO-elect of the Munich Re group. Prior to this, he was head of Munich Re’s life reinsurance unit in Singapore.
 
   Mr David Hughes will take on an expanded role to become Managing Director (Southeast Asia, South Asia, Gulf Region and Korea) for Munich Re’s Life reinsurance unit. In addition Mr Hughes will be responsible for Multinational Client Management across Asia Pacific. 
 
   Mr Tobias Frenz is appointed Managing Director (South East Asia and Retakaful), reporting to Mr David Hughes. 
 
Asia: Chubb introduces changes in executive line up
Chubb has appointed Mr Paul McNamee as Regional President, Asia Pacific. Mr McNamee will have overall responsibility for the general management and business results for all operations in the region, which includes Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Macao, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Prior to this, he was Deputy Regional President and Executive Vice President, Commercial Property & Casualty, 
Asia Pacific. 
 
   Chubb has also appointed Mr Liam Burrell as its Division Head of Property & Casualty (P&C) for Singapore. He will spearhead business development, general management and overall growth for the P&C Division for Chubb Singapore and the Labuan office and will report to Mr Greg Dodds, Country President, Singapore.
 
   Mr Oliver McCauley is now the new Environmental Risk Underwriter for Asia. Based in Hong Kong, he will drive the profitability and strategic direction of the Environmental Risk portfolio across Asia. He will report to Mr Kane Bennett, Regional Manager, Asia Pacific & Far East – Environmental Risk for Chubb in Asia Pacific. 
 
MetLife has new Japan COO and CFO for Asia
MetLife has announced two key leadership changes in the Asia region.
 
   Mr Toby Brown has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer for Japan. In this new leadership role, Mr Brown will report to MetLife Japan CEO Sachin Shah and will be based in Tokyo. Mr Brown has served as regional CFO since 2011.
 
   Mr Lyndon Oliver has been named senior vice president and CFO Asia, replacing Mr Brown. As CFO Asia, Mr Oliver will oversee all financial management matters for Asia. Prior to this Mr Oliver was senior vice president and CFO US Group, Voluntary & Worksite Benefits (GVWB). He will be based in Hong Kong. 
 
Asia: XL Catlin appoints new Casualty and Financial Lines underwriters
XL Catlin’s insurance operations has announced the appointment of Ms Louisa Lu as Senior Underwriter, Casualty for Asia Pacific. Ms Lu has over 18 years in the insurance industry. 
 
   Further, XL Catlin has bolstered its Brisbane-based team with the appointment of Mr Jayson Symonds as Financial Lines underwriter. Mr Symonds has more than 13 years of experience across the Australian and New Zealand market.
 
Asia: BHSI names new head for Accident & Health
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Company (BHSI) is entering the Accident & Health (A&H) market in Asia, and has appointed Mr Phillip Brain as Head of A&H in the region.
 
   Mr Brain comes to BHSI with nearly two decades of industry experience. He will be based in BHSI’s office in Singapore.
 
Asia: ArgoGlobal expands Global Marine offering with double hire
ArgoGlobal, the Lloyd’s insurer and member of Argo Group, has appointed Ms Lee Zi Yih as Marine Underwriter for Asia, and Mr David Ong as Senior Underwriter of Marine Hull and Energy for MENA as part of the continued expansion of its global marine offering. 
 
   Ms Lee will report to Mr David Lim, Head of Marine at ArgoGlobal Asia, while Mr Ong will report to Ms Lina Hantas, Chief Underwriting Officer, MENA.
 
Asia: Swiss Re makes new appointments
Swiss Re has appointed Ms Winnie Ching as the new Head of Client Markets for Southeast Asia in their Life & Health reinsurance business. She has over 13 years of experience in actuarial consulting and reinsurance and was previously the reinsurer’s Head of Health & Medical Solutions for the Life & Health business in Asia. She will be based in Singapore. 
 
   Mr Steve Arora, who has worked in Swiss Re for 17 years, is the new Global Head of Casualty. In this capacity, he will also be joining the Reinsurance Executive Committee. Prior to this, he was President of Japan. 
 
   Succeeding Mr Arora is Mr Atsuhiro Dodo, who has been appointed the new President of Swiss Re Japan. In this role he will be both the Market Executive and Client Executive, as well as having oversight for all of Swiss Re’s operations in Japan in his capacity as Country President. He will also be joining the Asia Management Team and Globals Management Team.
 
   Mr Deepak Mohan has been appointed as the new Head of Business Development (BD) in Swiss Re Asia, in Hong Kong. He joined BD from the Principal Investments & Acquisitions (PIA) Asia team. He serves as Swiss Re’s representative on the Board of Control of Vietnam National Reinsurance Corporation, a Vietnamese reinsurer in which Swiss Re holds a 25% stake.
 
   Ms Marianne Gilchrist has been promoted to the Client Executive position, Swiss Re Globals Asia, and will become a member of the Globals Management Team (GMT) and the Asia Management Team (AMT). 
 
   Marianne has more than 25 years of experience in marketing, brand management and product innovation, in a diverse range of companies and sectors focusing on life and health insurance. She will be based in Hong Kong.
 
   Swiss Re has named Mr Jingwei Jia as the new head of its China branch. Mr Jia will be based in Shanghai and will drive Swiss Re Corporate Solutions’ strategy of building its China operations into a leading commercial insurer.
 
Talbot Australia appoints new Head of Underwriting 
Talbot Underwriting Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Validus Holdings Ltd, has appointed Mr Steve Ward, as new role of Head of Underwriting for the Australian office. 
 
   The role of Head of Underwriting has been created with the aim of executing the key strategic initiatives that Talbot Australia is committed to implementing over the next three to five years.
 
China: Lloyd’s announces new appointments
Lloyd’s has named Mr Eric Gao as Head of Greater China Region and Mr Tom Haddrill as Hong Kong General Representative. 
 
   Mr Gao has been Chairman and CEO of Lloyd’s Insurance Company (China) Ltd since 2008 where he has overseen a period of tremendous growth. As Head of Greater China Region he will lead teams based in Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong and work to better connect and leverage Lloyd’s network and contacts across the region for the benefit of all Lloyd’s participants. 
 
   In his new role, Mr Haddrill will be responsible for market development and liaising with market practitioners and regulatory authorities to maintain Lloyd’s presence in Hong Kong. He will report to Mr Eric Gao, Lloyd’s Head of Greater China Region, a newly expanded remit encompassing Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, in addition to Mainland 
China.
 
Generali Life Philippines has new CEO
Mr Reynaldo Centeno has been appointed as CEO of Generali Life Philippines. In this role, he will be responsible for delivering on Generali’s growth ambitions. 
 
   Prior to joining Generali, Mr Centeno was with Philam Life companies, where he held several senior leadership roles. 
 
Singapore: China Life names new Chief Executive
China Life Insurance Singapore has appointed Mr Tony Chow as its Chief Executive.
 
   Mr Chow has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry and prior to this, he was Deputy General Manager at China Life Insurance Singapore where he was instrumental in facilitating the smooth operations of the Singapore office, focusing on developing and strengthening the distribution network, as well as building the company’s branding profile. 
 
Singapore: SRA elects new Chairman
The Singapore Reinsurers’ Association (SRA) has announced the line-up of its Executive Committee (EXCO) for the 2016/2017 term of office with Mr Alain Flandrin, CEO (Asia Pacific) of Partner Re Asia, being elected as its Chairman. 
 
   Mr Flandrin replaces Mr Thomas Lillelund who has stepped down following his recent appointment as CEO of Aspen Re.
 
Global: Crawford & Company announces new President and CEO
Crawford & Company has named Mr Harsha V Agadi president and CEO. He had served as interim president and CEO since August 2015.
 
   Mr Agadi has been a member of the Crawford Board of Directors since 2010 and will continue to serve on Crawford’s Board.
 
Global: XL Group hires new head for new global M&A
XL Group has hired Mr Brian Benjamin to head a new global mergers and acquisitions division.
 
   Mr Benjamin will initially focus on hiring underwriting teams. He joins XL from American International Group, Inc, where he worked as a management liability and financial institutions officer. He will be based in New York and report to Mr Dan Kumpf, chief executive officer of global professional liability.
 
Global: Lockton names new CEO
Lockton has named Mr Glenn Spencer as its next President and Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 May 2017. Mr Spencer will succeed Mr John Lumelleau, who will continue as President and CEO, working closely with Mr Spencer on the leadership transition until his retirement at the end of Lockton’s fiscal year, 30 April 2017.
 
Global: JLT Re appoints new head of Strategic Advisory
JLT Re has appointed Mr Mark Shumway as Global Head of Strategic Advisory. Mr Shumway will join JLT Re as soon as he has completed his contractual obligations with Guy Carpenter and will be based in the Philadelphia office reporting to Mr David Flandro, JLT Re’s Global Head of Analytics.
 
   Mr Shumway brings nearly 20 years of analytics, advisory and management experience in the (re)insurance industry, joining from Guy Carpenter where he was a Managing Director and Head of Strategic Advisory for the Asia-Pacific region. 
 
Global: AGCS announces several leadership changes
Allianz Global Corporate & Speciality (AGCS) has named Mr Jack Jenner as country manager for its Dubai-based offices, effective 1 September. 
 
   Mr Jenner will lead the Dubai branch of AGCS’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Allianz Risk Transfer AG, which cover the Middle East region, providing facultative reinsurance for corporate, industrial and specialty risks. He will replace Mr Willem van Wyk, who has relocated back to Australia to lead AGCS’s business in the Pacific region. 
 
   Mr Paul O’Neill will become Chief Underwriting Officer Specialty, with effect from 1 October 2016, subject to regulatory approval. As a new Board of Management member for AGCS and based in London, he will oversee AGCS’ business in the Energy, Marine, Aviation and Entertainment lines of business. 
 
   Mr Simon Buxton will succeed Mr O’Neill as Global Head of Marine and Energy on 1 October 2016. He will remain based in the London office of AGCS.
 
Global: Transamerica Life Bermuda announces new President and CEO
Transamerica Life (Bermuda) Ltd has announced the appointment of Mr Marc Russell Lieberman as President and CEO. Mr Lieberman succeeds Mr Damiaan Jacobovits de Szeged, who will be returning to Aegon’s Corporate Center to lead a key project to accelerate the execution of Aegon’s strategy.
 
   Mr Lieberman will be responsible for driving Transamerica Life Bermuda’s overall growth, strategic planning, and the management of the company’s day-to-day operations across Asia. He will report to Mr Douglas C Henck, Chairman and CEO of Aegon Asia.
