Messrs Michael Butt, Shuzo Sumi and Dr Nikolaus von Bomhard are 2017 Insurance Hall of Fame nominees

The International Insurance Society (IIS) has announced the nominees for the 2017 Insurance Hall of Fame, the premier industry award.
The 2017 candidates are:
- Mr Michael Butt, Chairman of the Board, AXIS, Bermuda;
- Mr Shuzo Sumi, Chairman of the Board, Tokio Marine, Japan; and
- Dr Nikolaus von Bomhard, Chairman of the Board of Management, Munch Re, Germany.
The 2017 Laureate will be announced this month. The award will be presented before an audience of more than 500 insurance leaders at the 3 July 2017 gala awards dinner, held in conjunction with the IIS Global Insurance Forum taking place at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in London, 2-5 July next year.
The Insurance Hall of Fame honours insurance standouts who have made a broad, encompassing and lasting contribution to the insurance industry and who are recognised by their peers as successful leaders, innovators and visionaries. Recent Laureates include Brian Duperreault of Hamilton Insurance, Stephen Catlin of XL Catlin, Denis Kessler of SCOR, Ikuo Uno of Nippon Life and Don Kramer of ILS Capital Management.
