Vietnam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines), the country’s biggest state-owned shipping company, has reached a framework agreement with a consortium of insurance companies to insure its offshore fishing vessel hulls.
Under the US$565 million insurance contract, the hulls of 76 Vinalines ships will be insured by insurers such as PVI Holdings, Bao Viet Holdings, Bao Minh Insurance Corporation and PTI Insurance, reported Vietnam News.
Vinalines operates a fleet of various ships, including container shipping, bulk cargo and oil carriers. The fleet annually transports 60% of imported and exported goods in Vietnam.
