Global Cyber Marine

A global cyber crime reporting portal for the shipping industry has been created through a collaboration of several maritime entities. This was announced by Mr Mark Sutcliffe, founder of CSO Alliance, an online community of maritime company security officers driving best practices to combat maritime crime.

For a start, the Alliance will establish a pilot website that will, among others, allow for the anonymous reporting of incidents, provide a confidential forum among members to share advice on threats and provide a tool for analysing malware. It aims to commence trials on the pilot this summer for its members and partners. Going forward, additional features are planned for the pilot, including Big Data reports and analytics, fusion of satellite imaging and location services.

The collaborating partners of the initiative so far include BIMCO (representing shipowners), North P&I Club for the P&I sector, The Republic of the Marshall Islands Maritime Administrator (a Flag State), and DNV GL for Classification Societies. CSOs, CTOs, CISOs and other interested parties are welcome to join. A
