Myanmar: Japanese insurers prepare for licence

Dai-ichi Life Insurance has filed an application for an operating licence in Myanmar. 
 
Nippon Life Insurance and Taiyo Life Insurance have already started preparations for joint ventures with local businesses, reported NHK. 
 
Myanmar’s financial authorities in January this year outlined how they would open the doors to foreign insurers to operate in the country which has a population of over 50m and a relatively untapped life insurance market. A
