Thailand: Tourism body and insurers devise travel insurance policy

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has signed a memorandum of understanding with three leading insurance companies to provide an insurance policy, Thailand Travel Shield, for foreign tourists.
 
The online insurance plan provides coverage of up to THB2m ($62,900) with premiums starting from THB400 per trip, up to seven days, reported The Bangkok Post.
 
The insurers in the scheme are Muang Thai Insurance, Krungthai Panich Insurance and South East Insurance.
 
The targeted market comprises 10m free independent travellers. The goal this year is to sell Thailand Travel Shield to 1% of these visitors, or 100,000 insurance policies. A
