Myanmar: Govt aims to launch microinsurance

The government is planning to introduce microinsurance services for low-income people, Ministry of Planning and Finance financial regulatory department director Thant Zin said.
 
He was speaking at a workshop on microinsurance, with discussions focussing on the tasks to be carried out to implement micro-insurance services and rules and regulations, reported Eleven Myanmar. 
 
Currently, the Department is drafting the Microfinance Business Law and Microinsurance Business Law. Both laws are expected to be enacted in 2020.  
 
The micro-insurance services envisaged by the Department would cover health insurance, life insurance, funeral insurance, accident insurance, insurance for agriculture and livestock businesses, property insurance, credit life insurance and the insurance for floods and landslides. A
