Sneak preview of tomorrow

Asia Insurance Review decided to end the year for readers by asking some of the industry’s leading lights to talk about the big issues that will face the industry in 2020 – in insurance, reinsurance, broking, advisory, regulation and technology. The result is a collection of unique insights for strategic minds to mull over during the Christmas break – to inform and direct action and strategy in the New Year.

No one has a crystal ball and so no one knows what will happen in the insurance industry next year.

But we thought we would try to produce the next best thing to a crystal ball – and that involved asking some of the best and most experienced minds in Asia and around the world about their predictions for 2020.

What we got makes for fascinating reading.

The idea is that these collective insights will give our readers plenty to think about over the Christmas lull – focusing minds for the year ahead, sparking new thoughts or new themes, leading to new products or new initiatives.

Some of the comments and insights are quite unique – while others explore themes that arch across insurance, reinsurance, broking, actuarial, InsurTech and much more.

The challenges and opportunities of China and India as they reach their own tipping points, the opportunity and threat presented by InsurTech, the slow march towards parity of gender in the C-suite and on the board, the need for more inclusivity – as well as cyber and climate change and much more.

There is much food for thought in the pages that follow – and we hope that it adds to the sum of knowledge amongst insurance professionals – while making for an entertaining year-end read.
