Australia/New Zealand: Talent sought in underwriting and broking

The top five jobs in the Australian insurance field which employers want to fill are those of claims assessors, SME underwriters, contact centre agents, brokers and technical claims managers.
 
The latest Hays Salary Guide also shows that the top five roles in New Zealand’s insurance market which employers want to fill are those of underwriters, brokers, loss adjusters, claims handlers and broker support.
 
The report says insurance is among the top 10 industries in Australia experiencing the most extreme skill shortage. In addition, the top factors driving turnover in the insurance sector in Australia and New Zealand are an uncompetitive salary, lack of promotional opportunities, negative mental health and wellbeing impact.
 
The report says 52% of insurance workers in Australia and 33% in New Zealand are more confident to ask for a pay rise this year. Furthermore, 43% of them in Australia and 64% in New Zealand do not intend to remain with their current employer after the current financial year. A
