Country Profile: Taiwan - Cross-Strait pact stirs guarded optimism

The kickoff this year of a cross-Strait economic co-operation agreement between Taiwan and China is believed to be significant to Taiwanese insurers in, or entering, the mainland – particularly if it allows them to compete on a more level playing field with Chinese insurers. Looking inward, analysts do not expect the pact to attract much investment to Taiwan’s already crowded insurance sector.
