Source: Asia Insurance Review | Mar 2015

Marking 25 years as the voice of the region’s insurance industry, Asia Insurance Review is hosting a world first international summit to recognise and salute the role of insurance in life, economy, society, and nation-building.

This summit, with AIA as lead sponsor, will aim at providing a platform for insurers and users of insurance to come together to see what more the insurance industry can do to better serve individuals, corporates and society while taking stock of its current strengths and weaknesses. It will include panels from government departments as well as consumer bodies, academia, and the public to get feedback for the insurance industry in a genuine attempt for the industry to rise to the challenges of the day.

With the theme, “Making a Real Difference – Promoting the Good of Insurance”, it will be held on 29 and 30 April in Singapore, with an official keynote address by Ms Teo Swee Lian, Special Advisor, Monetary Authority of Singapore; regulatory address by Mr Pravej Ongartsittigul, Secretary General, Office of Insurance Commission, Thailand; industry keynote address by Mr Mark Tucker, Group Chief Executive and President, AIA; special keynote by Prof Haresh C. Shah, Professor Emeritus, Stanford University & Founder and Senior Advisor, RMS, Inc and a special address by Mr Rowan Douglas, Chairman, Willis Research Network & Chair, UN HFA2 Financial Sector Working Group UK.

The topics to be covered include: a CEO panel on daring to stand tall to promote the industry; the role of supervisors, regulators and government in promoting value of insurance; using insurance to shape desirable social habits; and strategies to show the real pull of insurance.
