Source: Asia Insurance Review | Oct 2015

Madrid-headquartered MAPFRE RE has opened two new branches in Asia, specifically in Labuan (Malaysia) and Singapore, with the aim of strengthening its reinsurance business in Asia.

Speaking to Asia Insurance Review, Mr Eduardo Perez, General Manager of MAPFRE RE, said: “We’re looking to develop more platforms in the Asian region and we’ll remain consistent in our approach, which is to be technically sound and develop long-term relationships with our clients. Expanding our presence in the region will help us get even closer to our clients.”

The Malaysia branch has been operational since early this year, while the one in Singapore was authorised to offer its services last month. These two new offices are in addition to another two that already exist in the region in Manila and Beijing.

Mr Andres Lorenzana will be responsible for both new branches. He leads a team of professionals in coordination with the headquarters in Madrid and the regional management for MAPFRE RE APAC, led by Mr Jesus Galeote.
