Asian News - Sri Lanka picked for mutual microinsurance programme for emerging nations

Sri Lanka is one among five emerging countries which has been selected for the development of inclusive mutual insurance for the next five years under an initiative of the UK-headquartered International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF).
The ICMIF 5-5-5 Mutual Microinsurance Strategy aims to reach out to 5 million under-served households in five countries, over five years. The other countries in the programme are the Philippines, Kenya, India and a Latin American nation.
Public Enterprise Development Deputy Minister Eran Wickramaratne said that the countries were selected based on their performance and potential as emerging markets in the insurance industry.
