Antares Asia develops marine offering
Antares Asia has brought in Ms Ching Ching Long as Marine Senior Underwriter. Reporting to CEO Li Shan Yeo, she will be responsible for developing the company’s marine treaty and facultative portfolio for cargo, hull, marine liability and terrorism.
 
Asia: A.M. Best names new Commercial Director
A.M. Best has named Mr Scott Ryrie as Commercial Director, Asia Pacific. Based in Singapore, his primary responsibilities will be to develop and implement strategic commercial initiatives to reinforce and enhance the rating agency’s business activities across Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
 
Asia: Providence appoints Regional Director
Providence has appointed Mr Neil Broadbent as Regional Director, Asia. In his new role, he will be responsible for the brand’s growth distribution in the region.
 
Asia: Swiss Re announces new Regional President
Swiss Re has named Ms Jayne Plunkett as its new Regional President and CEO Reinsurance, Asia, succeeding Mr Moses Ojeisekhoba who in turn, has been appointed as CEO Reinsurance of the Group. Both moves are effective 1 July 2016.
 
   Ms Plunkett joined the company in 2006 and has held positions covering various portfolios and regions. Currently Head Casualty Reinsurance, she also manages the unit handling all large and complex transactions for P&C Re. 
 
   Meanwhile, Mr Ojeisekhoba, whose career has spanned more than 25 years, in both life and non-life insurance, from personal to commercial lines, has been with Swiss Re since 2012, when he was named Regional President and CEO Reinsurance, Asia.
 
Asia: XL Catlin announces war, terrorism & pol violence portfolio lead
XL Catlin has promoted Ms Carrie Huang to the role of Asia Underwriting Manager for War, Terrorism and Political Violence. She will be responsible for developing the respective solutions and book of business across the region.
 
ANZ: Munich Re names new country heads
Mr Ralph Ronnenberg will succeed Mr Heinrich Eder as Managing Director at Munich Re, Sydney on 1 July and will be responsible for all non-life reinsurance operations in Australia and New Zealand as well as for Great Lakes Australia.
 
   Meanwhile, Mr Andrew Linfoot, who is currently Head of Life at Munich Re in Sydney will be appointed as CEO responsible for all life reinsurance operations in Australia and New Zealand.
 
HKFI unveils new office bearers for 2016/2017
The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI) has elected its governing committee for the term 2016/2017 with Mr Ronnie Ng as Chairman and Mr Stuart Fraser as Deputy Chairman. The committee members include Mr David Alexander (Swiss Re); Mr Pui-leung Chan (China Taiping Insurance (Hong Kong) Company Limited); Ms Agnes H K Choi (AXA General insurance Hong Kong Limited); Mr Stuart Harrison (AXA China Region Insurance Company (Bermuda) Limited); Mr Mike S C Lee (MassMutual Asia Limited); Mr Jimmy W F Poon (Dah Sing Insurance Company (1976) Limited); Mr Lennard Yong (MetLife Limited); and Mr Allan K N Yu (Zurich Insurance Company Ltd).
 
Malaysia: Allianz Life appoints CEO
Mr Joseph Gross has been appointed CEO of Allianz Life Insurance Malaysia Berhad following approval from the regulator. Prior to his appointment, he was the Head of Group Market Management and responsible for the global brand management for the insurer, driving digital transformation and customer centricity as core strategic priorities the organisation.
 
Malaysia: PIAM elects 2016/2017 management committee
Persatuan Insurans Am Malaysia (PIAM) has elected Mr Antony Lee, CEO of AIG Malaysia Insurance Bhd as its Chairman while Mr Chua Seck Guan, CEO of MSIG Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd was elected as Deputy Chairman at its recent 38th Annual General Meeting.
 
   Eight other CEOs of member companies of PIAM will serve on the committee for 2016/2017, namely Mr Steve Crouch (ACE Jerneh Insurance Bhd); Mr Derek Roberts (AmGeneral Insurance Bhd), Mr Zaharudin Daud (Etiqa Insurance Bhd); Mr Looi Kong Meng (Lonpac Insurance Bhd); Mr David Tan See Dip (Liberty Insurance Bhd), Mr Zainudin Ishak (Malaysian Reinsurance Bhd), Mr Randy Hong (Swiss Re); and Mr David Fike (Zurich Insurance Malaysia Bhd).
 
Singapore: Transamerica Life names CEO
Transamerica Life Bermuda has announced Mr Winson Yap as CEO of its Singapore branch office. He will have responsibility for driving and enhancing the insurer’s business growth and operations in Singapore. Mr Yap will report to Transamerica Life Bermuda President and CEO Damiaan Jacobovits de Szeged, and will be a member of the Management Team.
 
Singapore: Tokio Marine Kiln hires new underwriters
Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) has expanded its team with the appointments of Mr Tom Yarrow as a property underwriter in its Singapore office and Mr Mike Crabtree as a product recall underwriter in its London office. 
 
Global: Build Change adds to Board
Build Change, an international non-profit social enterprise, has appointed Dr Mary Lou Zoback and Ms Grace Hanson to its board of directors. Dr Zoback is a prominent earthquake scientist, spending most of her career as a senior research scientist at the US Geological Survey while Ms Hanson is currently the Senior Vice President Chief Claims Officer for Homesite Insurance.
 
Global: LONMAR expands team
Independent Lloyd’s broker LONMAR has appointed Mr James Underwood as a Divisional Director in its specialist Professions team. He will report to Mr Alan Newall, Managing Director of Professions and will be focusing on relationship management with existing key clients and developing new international business.
 
Global: TigerRisk strengthens ILS expertise
Reinsurance broker and risk/capital management adviser TigerRisk Partners has recruited Mr Philipp Kusche as Partner and Global Head of Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS) and Capital Solutions. In his new role based in New York and reporting to Mr Tony Ursano, President, he will develop next-generation ILS and other insurance risk-to-capital solutions.
 
Global: WBN appoints new director
Worldwide Broker Network (WBN) has appointed Ms LeAnne Stefl as Director of Employee Benefits. She joins the network from HUB International where she was part of its executive leadership and was responsible for account management, member services and health & performance teams.
 
Global: WCMA announces senior management moves
Willis Capital Markets & Advisory (WCMA) has named Mr Rafal Walkiewicz as CEO, based in New York. He was formerly Co-CEO of the company alongside Mr Michael Guo who will be stepping down from the role. 
 
   Meanwhile, Mr Vincent Lien has been appointed Managing Director of Hong Kong, reporting to Mr Walkiewicz. Mr Lien, along with Mr John Philipsz, Managing Director of Australia, will take on joint responsibility for leading the business’ Asia strategy.
