Source: Asia Insurance Review | Nov 2016

Insurance Europe and the European social partners in the Insurance Sectoral Social Dialogue Committee (ISSDC) have signed a joint declaration on the social effects of digitalisation.

The declaration seeks to commit members on both sides to follow the digital transformation happening in the industry in a positive manner, as digitalisation offers more opportunities for companies as well as employees.

The declaration addresses issues such as further training for employees, the need for work-life balance in the digital world, leadership in the digital age, protection of employees’ data and preserving jobs.

Dr Sebastian Hopfner, Chairman of the ISSDC and Chairman of Insurance Europe’s social dialogue platform said: “The European insurance industry is leading the way in developing cutting-edge products and services for consumers in a digital age. In this time of change for the industry, dialogue between the European social partners will be more valuable than ever in ensuring a positive result for stakeholders. ”

Insurance Europe is the European insurance and reinsurance federation while the ISSDC is the European level forum in which insurance employer and employee representatives discuss topics of common interest with the support of the European Commission.
