The International Insurance Society (IIS) has announced the winners of two of its awards for this year.
Professor Georges Dionne of HEC Montreal in Canada has been elected to receive the John S. Bickley Founder’s Award for his accomplishments and contributions to risk and insurance economics education. A university professor in the field of insurance and risk management for almost 35 years, Prof Dionne has produced six books, 170 articles and 350 presentations.
The prestigious Founder’s Award was instituted in 1972 and honours individuals who have made a significant and lasting contribution to insurance thought, product, practice or education.
The IIS has also recognised Mr David Piesse, Chief Risk Officer at security company Guardtime in Hong Kong, with the Kenneth Black, Jr. Distinguished Service Award for 2017, for his numerous achievements. The Distinguished Service Award is awarded to an individual who has had a significant influence on the development of the Society over a period of years.
Both Prof Dionne and Mr Piesse will be honoured at the Global Insurance Forum in London this June with other awardees.
