The Asian Captive Conference 2017
Theme: “De-risking Asia: The Growing Role of Self-Insurance”
16-17 August, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
This joint effort between Labuan IBFC and the Labuan International Insurance Association aims to highlight the benefits of self-insurance, specifically captive insurance for Asian corporates and conglomerates. It will also discuss research commissioned by Labuan IBFC on why Asian captives are still inadequately represented vis-a-vis the total number of captives globally.

 
Singapore Actuarial Society 4th Life Insurance Conference 2017
Theme: “Engage in the New Age – Be Part of the Change”
17-18 August, Singapore
This two-day conference will allow you to hear from the leaders of the most innovative life insurers in Singapore about how they engage technology to transform the landscape of insurance. With presentations from actuaries outside Singapore, you will also get the opportunity to engage the wider ASEAN community. 

 
1st SME Insurance Summit
Theme: “Using Insurance to Manage Your Risks & Grow Your Business”
22-23 August, Singapore
SMEs play an important role in Asia, accounting for over 90% of all enterprises and employing half the workforce across APEC economies. The segment is particularly vulnerable to risks compared to larger organisations, with their survival even at stake from a single cyber attack, for example. This inaugural Summit will help SMEs understand the fundamental importance of cost-effective risk management and the role insurance can play, for insurance is a necessary investment, not an ancillary cost.

 
Asia Risk & Resilience Conference 2017
Theme: “Corporate Governance, Risk & Resilience – From Strategy to Reality”
23-25 August, Singapore
This risk management conference will see speakers from risk managers and experts. It is organised by the Risk and Insurance Management Association of Singapore (RIMAS) in partnership with BCP Asia.

 
6th Asia Insurance CIO Technology Summit
Theme: “CIOs as Drivers of Growth in an InsurTech Era”
4-5 September, Singapore
With InsurTech, insurers have altered their traditional approach to managing business. Startups eager to disrupt the industry and technology have taken centrestage. With newly created roles such as Chief Digital Officer and Chief Analytics Officer, CIOs must adopt a more proactive approach to the changing technology landscape and work closely with these new stakeholders to advance business prospects. 
 
   This year’s Summit will discuss the challenges CIOs face and what the future looks like for them.

 
4th Asia Agriculture Insurance Conference
Theme: “Smart & Innovative Solutions for a Resilient Future”
6-7 September, Singapore
Agriculture is booming and farming has taken on new forms with R&D, cost-effective business models and new distribution channels. Meanwhile, the sector needs insurers’ help with climate change issues and extreme weather conditions with Nat CATs on the rise. This conference will examine how the insurance industry and its stakeholders can meet the demands for agriculture cover today and at the same time offer risk management solutions. 

 
Les Rendez-Vous de Septembre
9-14 September, Monte Carlo, Monaco
Since 1957, the major players in the world reinsurance market have met at the Rendez-Vous de Septembre in Monte-Carlo. This international and informal congress, which allows for discussion of reinsurance issues, marks the beginning of the annual negotiation process prior to renewals. This 61st edition’s official cocktail, hosted by the Rendez-vous association and Monaco government, will be held on 11 September. 

 
International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) 2017 Tokyo Conference
Theme: “Disruptive Times – Opportunity or Threat for Marine Insurers?”
17-20 September, Tokyo, Japan
This year’s conference will be held in Tokyo for the fifth time, and also marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the General Insurance Association of Japan. The first general insurance company in Japan began to sell cargo insurance in 1879 and hull insurance in 1883. Therefore, marine insurance is the origin of the general insurance industry in Japan.

 
13th Asia Conference on Pensions and Retirement Planning
Theme: “Making Pensions SMART: Sustainable. Meaty. Appropriate. Responsive. Timely.”
18-19 September, Singapore
Pensions and retirement need to change in a disruptive world. The ageing population needs more sophisticated healthcare; people are living beyond their savings; and low investment returns mean the pensions market needs to get smart in the long term. This two-day conference will look at the latest pension reforms and renewals as well as health and wealth management solutions and strategies for a successful retirement and sustainable pensions.

 
The Takaful Rendezvous 2017
Theme: “Takaful 2.0: Soar to Greater Heights”
20-21 September, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
With digital making strong inroads into traditional insurance, even takaful has to rethink its business and operating models. Although the takaful industry has grown rapidly especially in the Middle East and South East Asia, it still lags behind conventional insurance and is not fully exploited. This conference will look at how proper adoption of InsurTech and digital technology will allow takaful to grow.

 
AICLA/ANZIIF 11th Claims Convention (CC17)
Theme: “The Art of Claims—Maintaining Customer Focus”

This collaboration between the Australian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjuster (AICLA) and the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) is the leading insurance claims event in Australasia. Topics addressed include customers and social media in claims, Big Data and analytics. 

 
Federation of Afro-Asian Insurers & Reinsurers (FAIR) 25th Conference
Theme: “Insurance Transformation in FAIR-Land
9-11 October, Manama, Bahrain
This is the 25th edition of FAIR’s biennial conference. FAIR conferences aim to promote cooperation among insurance and reinsurance companies in Asia and Africa, and typically attract hundreds of top executives and key decision-makers from the industry to discuss the opportunities and challenges they face.

 
Singapore Actuarial Society 4th Health and Retirement Conference 2017
Theme: “Personalised Planning – One Size Does Not Fit All”
12-13 October, Singapore
The diversity of retirement and healthcare needs, coupled with more information and increasing sophistication of technology, is pushing the industry to look for multi-disciplinary ideas and solutions. This conference aims to take forward the various discussions on health and pension issues with a focus on personalised medicine revolution.

 
Asia Pacific Insurance Conference 2017
18-20 October 2017, Singapore
Run under the auspices of AIDA, the International Insurance Law Association, the inaugural Asia Pacific Insurance Conference 2017’s programme begins with AIDA working party meetings on climate and catastrophe; insurance law; reinsurance; ADR; personal insurance and pensions; insurance distribution; motor; marine; and state supervision.
 
   The program includes keynote speakers from insurance and the law – thought leaders who will discuss topical issues that are vital to the future of the insurance industry across the Asia Pacific region.

 
14th Singapore International Reinsurance Conference 
Theme: “New Partnerships in Reinsurance”
31 October – 2 November, Singapore
With the world of risk becoming increasingly more complex, the 14th SIRC will explore the theme of “New Partnerships in Reinsurance” from a variety of different angles including not only the traditional relationships between cedents, reinsurance brokers, reinsurers, risk managers, regulators and government but also technologies, social media and the Internet of Things. 
 
   The 14th SIRC, to be held for the fourth time from 31 October to 2 November 2017 at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, will have Mr Ulrich Wallin, Chairman & CEO of Hannover Re, making his maiden appearance as the conference keynote speaker.
 
   The event will provide three days of high-level networking and cooperation opportunities, with the Lloyd’s Coffee House acting as the integral core of the event, where all interested parties meet under one roof. 

 
IAIS Annual Conference 2017
Theme: “Insurance Supervision: Looking Beyond…”

This year, the IAIS annual conference will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and is a great opportunity for region’s insurance industry to participate in the event to exchange views on issues relevant to the supervision and development of insurance markets.
