India: Aon re-enters insurance broking

Aon recently announced its re-entry into the insurance broking market in India after acquiring a 49% equity stake in Anviti Insurance Brokers.
 
Headed by CEO Jonathan Pipe, Anviti will transition to the Aon brand pending regulatory approvals. Its team will form the core of the joint venture and Aon’s growth plans in India.
 
In 2017, Aon officially exited the Indian market after selling its 26% stake to local joint venture partner, Global Insurance Services. Local media reported that the exit was due to Aon’s dispute with its former partner on whether rules on market pricing for stake sale supersede agreement between both of them. A
