Total economic losses from global natural disasters in the first half of this year amounted to $33bn, which was significantly below the $65bn recorded in 1H2017 and the 30-year average of $68.3bn. Meanwhile, global insured losses from 1H2018 came in at $17bn, compared to $25.5bn in the same period last year, and the 30-year average of $17.5bn.
